Super Food Hot Chocolate 🍫

If you’re a follower of Lady Farmer, then you know how much we value the “slow” aspects of real food sourcing and preparation. We always try to consider sustainability and nutritional value over convenience when making choices for our own households. But we also know that sometimes a well chosen shortcut or two can make a really great food or recipe more accessible.

That’s why we’ve come up with a dry-mix version of our delicious Peppermint Hot Chocolate recipe. Instead of having to use a double boiler or a bain marie, this mix allows you to whip up a steaming hot cup in minutes by simply boiling water and stirring in a couple of scoops of this powdered mix.

Here is the basic recipe and variations. We’ve also included links to the ingredients we used but feel free to substitute with what you have on hand or readily available.

Super Food Hot Chocolate Mix

(makes approx 9 oz of dry mix powder)

BASIC (no MCT Oil)

8 tbsp Whole Milk Powder
12 “ Cacao Powder
12 “ Grass Fed Butter powder
½-1 tsp Stevia Powder (to desired sweetness)

BASIC with MCT Oil

4 tbsp Whole Milk Powder
6 “ MCT Oil Powder *
12 “ Cacao Powder
12 “ Grass Fed Butter Powder
½-1 tsp Stevia Powder (to desired sweetness)

KETO

6-8 tbsp MCT Oil Powder *
12 “ Cacao Powder
12 “ Grass Fed Butter powder
1/2-1 tsp Stevia Powder (to desired sweetness)

*Check with your physician if pregnant or nursing regarding the consumption of MCT oil.

Combine ingredients and store in a jar with a lid. Then when you’re ready for a delicious, nutritious hot beverage, mix 2-3 generous tablespoons of mix for every 8 oz of boiling water, or stir in a couple of teaspoons to use as coffee creamer. Add a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg, or a drop or two of peppermint or almond extract as desired. Stir vigorously with a whisk and enjoy!

You can experiment with the ingredient amounts and proportions in any of these variations to find your favorite version. Makes a great gift as well!
